Team leaders Gary and Carolyn Miller, originally from Missouri and Kansas respectively, are both graduates of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. Carolyn's degree is in Religious Studies, and Gary's in Religious Studies and Psychology. Gary also holds a degree in Aviation Technology from LeTourneau University. Gary also has a Master's in Missiology from Southwestern Seminary and has pastored in Missouri and Texas. They have two grown children, Danny and Jennifer.
Both Gary and Carolyn were called to missions as freshmen at SBU and were planning a career in mission aviation when a back injury necessitated a change in career plans. Through a series of short-term mission trips into Romania, God led them to Budapest, Hungary, where Gary taught English at the Budapest Teacher Training College for the 1998-99 school year; Carolyn began home-schooling their children at that time. During the course of that year they got know several missionaries with the Southern Baptist International Mission Board who encouraged them to apply with the IMB.
They were given a two year assignment in Romania working alongside career missionaries as Volunteer Coordinators, arranging and providing logistics for short-term mission teams. This experience strengthened their call to missions, and they applied to be appointed as career missionaries themselves.
While meeting with leaders at the mission board and seeking God’s will regarding where they should serve, the Lord led them back to Hungary. They returned in 2002 and studied the language in Budapest while Jennifer attended the International Christian School for her senior year. In August of 2003 Gary and Carolyn moved to the city of Debrecen, which is their home base as they develop strategies for helping initiate a church planting movement among the Magyar people.

We are very excited to welcome the Hathcock family as our newest team members. They moved to Hungary in June of 2011.
Darrel and Kimberly have three daughters, Arianna, Abigail, and Sophia. Darrel was born in Amory, Mississippi, and is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Kimberly was born in Big Rapids, Michigan, and is a graduate of Missouri Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
During seminary, Kimberly and Darrel were parts of separate evangelism ministries in New Orleans' French Quarter. That is where they met in March of 2003. This experience continued to remind both Darrel and Kimberly of God's desire to reach the nations, and on June 4, 1994, the couple married. Before serving with the IMB, Darrel served as a campus minister with Baptist Student Ministries in Carthage, Texas, and in Springfield, Missouri.
The Hathcocks have served with the IMB since April 2002, first in the country of Belarus, followed by a second term in the country of Ukraine. They have now joined the Eastern Hungary team, having moved to Hungary in June of 2011. Following a year of intensive language study in Budapest, the family will move to Debrecen, where they will focus on student ministries. Please pray for the Hathcocks as they continue the process of following Him and seeking His Kingdom.

Journeyman Stacia arrived on the field on September 25, 2009, and serves in student outreach and sports ministry. Pray for Stacia as she prepares to transition back to the U.S. in August 2011.
Stacia was born in Pine Bluff Arkansas, but has lived in various places throughout the southern United States. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Psychology at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. Stacia was called to missions while attending First Baptist Church Humboldt. The congregation was saturated with people who understood God´s call for each believer to go and tell, and enabled Stacia to explore what that meant in her own life. Through the church, Stacia was able to serve on mission trips to both Guatemala and Poland, as well as serve the local community through outreach projects. She continues to follow God´s call to missions by serving with the IMB.

Recent Eastern Hungary Team members
Volunteer interns Aubree and Seth served on the Eastern Hungary Team from August 2010 to May 2011. They provided music for our coffeehouse ministry, for a church plant in Tiszafüred and a house church in Debrecen, and were also involved in prayerwalking and many other team ministries.
Aubree, an eighteen year old from Texas, served as a volunteer intern on the Eastern Hungary Team for the 2010-2011 school year. She grew up in Plano, Texas, and graduated from high school there. Hunters Glen Baptist Church has grown her spiritually and influenced her to have a heart for service; the Lord also used her church to introduce her to a program called Student Alternative (S.Alt), which has given her the opportunity to serve for two semesters overseas before beginning university. Following her time in eastern Hungary she plans to enroll at Texas A&M for the fall semester of 2011 and study architecture.
Seth, also a native Texan, served in Debrecen for the same period of time. When his home church since birth, Hunters Glen Baptist Church, developed the S.Alt program, he felt the Lord calling him to take a year off after high school to serve overseas through this opportunity. Through an interesting series of events, the Lord then made it clear that He wanted Seth to spend this time in Eastern Hungary. Coincidently, Seth also plans on attending Texas A&M University in the fall and studying architecture there.
Holly and Anna Paige (A.P.) have completed their Journeyman terms and returned to the States. We miss them both, and appreciate their service and all that they added to our team.
Holly is now working in Virginia, and A.P. is working in Texas.
